red, white, and blue salad

I don’t want my kids consuming food coloring. Let’s face it, there’s nothing foodlike about it. It’s just chemicals. But when it comes to the holidays I still want my kids to be able to celebrate at mealtime. This Red, White, and Blue Salad was born one Fourth of July from the desire to make something traditionally colorful but still good for my kids’ bodies.

Declare your independence from food coloring by making this naturally delectable and festive fruit salad. You don’t even need a holiday to enjoy it.

Makes 2 cups

½ cup diced strawberries

½ cup raspberries

½ cup diced red apples

½ cup blueberries

2 teaspoons honey

2 teaspoons lemon juice

Place all the ingredients in a bowl and toss to combine.
