I detest waste and try hard to use every bit of food that I buy, but inevitably a loaf of bread or a bag of bagels or pita will go stale. I fight back and give baked goods a second life by turning them into bread crumbs, croutons, or chips. These Cinnamon Pita Chips are a perfect example. Just cut stale or fresh pita into wedges and sprinkle them with cinnamon and sugar before baking. Your whole house smell like heaven as they toast up. As a result, they vanish almost instantly, and you’ll be chuffed by your own thriftiness.
Three 6-inch whole-wheat pitas
2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Canola oil spray or canola oil
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2. Slice each pita in half and cut each half into 3 wedges.
3. Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
4. Place the pita triangles on a baking sheet and spray lightly with oil (or brush a bit of oil on each chip). Sprinkle with the cinnamon and sugar mixture and toss to coat.
5. Bake for 10 minutes, or until crisp.
