Cattle Call

This term is generally used to refer to a sponsored campaign event where multiple contests for the same (or similar) political offices put in an appearance to demonstrate their viability. For GOP candidates, such events are often sponsored by state or local GOP groups (and include Lincoln-Reagan dinners, or events named for these icons individually), by independent advocacy groups such as the National Rifle Association or Americans for Prosperity, by conservative media organizations such as RedState, or by conservative umbrella groups, such as the Values Voters Summit and CPAC. For Democratic candidates, state party organizations have historically used Jefferson-Jackson dinners as political events, although there has been some movement recently to jettison the names of these former slave-owning presidents and rebrand these events.
