You Glow, Girl!

“You look fabulous! What’s your secret?”

“You haven’t aged a bit since our last reunion.”

“There’s no way you are a grandmother.”

How would you like to hear these words spoken about you? I have good news…you will receive compliments like these in the coming weeks and months. People can’t help but notice as you give your heart, mind, and body a makeover. If you continue to use the daily prescriptions found in this book, you will be glowing with a love for life, enthusiasm for new adventures, and a healthier, fitter body.

If you ever think you’re too old to sizzle, think of my friend who celebrated her fiftieth wedding anniversary this year, and she’s got better legs than I do (sad, but true). Or the 78-year-old woman who was leading the dancing at her granddaughter’s wedding. Baby boomers and beyond may have aged in years but not in spirit. You don’t want to simply retire and fade into the background someday. You yearn to be active and useful, travel, have interesting conversations, and live out the dreams that perhaps have taken a backseat during the childrearing years. You want to feel the passion and energy of your twenties while possessing the wisdom that comes only with age. These wishes can become a reality in your life. Don’t believe the cultural lie that your best days are behind you. As a believer in Jesus Christ, your best days are ahead.

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

I was at SeaWorld with my children, and I had to laugh at something my two-year-old daughter, Noelle, did in the bathroom. As we were leaving, she stopped right in front of the full-length mirror. Looking at herself intently from head to toe, she exclaimed with attitude, “Good!” Not sure of what I’d heard, I asked her, “Noelle, did you just say that you look good?” With a broad smile on her face, she said “Yes.”

What a crack up. I’m glad my two-year-old has a positive self-image. So what about you, dear friend? When you look in a full-length mirror and see yourself from head to toe, do you think good? Looking and feeling younger is about accepting your appearance, embracing your God-given age, and doing your best to improve your assets. Hear the voice of your heavenly Father as He looks at you, His daughter, and proclaims “Good.”

The next time you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror, don’t forget to smile. You are a luminous work in progress. Beauty has no age limit or expiration date. Aging doesn’t mark the end of your journey. It is merely a bridge to many new beginnings God has planned for you. Over the last 31 days, we’ve looked at your heart, mind, and body. It’s been a pleasure to walk alongside of you. Remember…the best is yet to come.
