* I developed the Sexual Effects Inventory based on items identified in my clinical practice, research review, and questionnaire study. It is designed to give survivors a general picture of their sexual concerns at this time. The items in the inventory are ones survivors and therapists believe to be associated with past sexual abuse (some have been empirically tested, others haven’t). Sexual problems have many causes besides sexual abuse, such as medical problems, religious and social upbringings, relationship difficulties, and stress, that could account for any particular response to an item.
