It’s important to capture natural moments of the bridal party too because they are all key players in the event. Each of these individuals has been asked to stand up for the bride or groom because they are important people in their lives. Your clients will appreciate images of them enjoying the day and having fun, so they can look back and see that the day was indeed a success.
As the day progresses, try to create a single portrait of as many members of the bridal party as possible. The bride and groom will enjoy seeing them, and they will be thankful for great portraits of their friends and family, because it is not often that adults have their portraits taken. It is also rare to have a photojournalistic portrait created, so this is a wonderful opportunity to surprise everyone with one. That can translate into extra image sales, since you can sell that image to the individual featured in the portrait, in addition to the bride and her family.
It is also important to remember not to focus solely on individual portraits. Your mission is to capture the festivities of the wedding, and the best way to accomplish that is to capture photos of groups of people enjoying themselves. It’s much harder to capture the perfect moment when there are many people moving in one shot, but when you do, the bride and groom will really be able to see how much fun everyone was having on their big day.
Your mission is to capture the festivities of the wedding . . . to capture photos of groups of people enjoying themselves.
