About Us

Kate O’Donnell is a nationally certified Ayurvedic practitioner and an authorized Ashtanga yoga teacher who has made over a dozen extended trips to India. She continues to travel to India annually for study, and she teaches Ayurveda and yoga programs internationally.

Kate first went to India for a semester abroad at age nineteen to teach English and study environmental science. She took a semester off from school to stay, practice yoga, and travel to as many parts of India as she could in six months. During that time, Kate ate an indigestible amount of unfamiliar foods and ended up at the Ayurvedic doctor’s office. Profound experiences of Ashtanga yoga and Ayurveda, as well as an avid interest in the healing powers of food, have inspired her study and practice of the ancient arts for the past seventeen years.

Kate is the director of the Mysore Program at Down Under School of Yoga and practices Ayurveda in Boston. She is also on the faculty of the Kripalu School of Ayurveda. She teaches workshops, cooking classes, seasonal cleanses, and lifestyle retreats when she isn’t practicing yoga or having a chai.

Cara Brostrom is a professional photographer and creative vagabond born and raised on a farm in the Midwest. For several years, she traveled Europe and the United Kingdom, carrying her camera with her as she photographed landscapes, people, and everyday life. She has since settled in New England, where she met Kate, grew an Ashtanga yoga practice under her teaching, and was subsequently introduced to the many benefits of Ayurveda by way of Kate’s charming presentation of the classic healing system.

Cara has spent recent years documenting the subtle stillness present in yoga and mindful eating and now finds herself happily rooted with a self-made photography career. Cara holds a master of arts degree from the University of Wales at Aberystwyth, and her art has been exhibited in solo and group shows in the United States, Canada, Finland, and the United Kingdom. She lives in Boston with her husband and young daughter.
