Bernat Cotton-ish (55% cotton, 45% acrylic; 282 yds/258m per 2.4 oz/70g ball) or similar light weight yarn in colors:

Hat is worked in the rnd to form a tube. Hat band is worked onto the tube at one end and then the opposite end is gathered closed.
Body of hat is essentially the same for all sizes. Band is worked to fit size.
Band is worked in rows vertically to the hat.
Rnd 1: With MC and leaving a long tail, ch 100; sc in second ch from hook and each ch across. Being careful not to twist work, join with a sl st to first sc to form a lp. (99 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc); (4 dc, ch 1) in same st as joining. *[Sk next st, (dc, ch 1) in next st] 3 times. Sk next st, (dc5tog, ch 1) over next 5 sts, [sk next st, (dc, ch 1) in next st] 3 times. Sk next st, ** (5dc, ch 1) in next st. Rep from * around until 19 sts rem. Rep from * to ** one more time. Join with a sl st to third ch of beg ch-3.
Rnd 3: Ch 1; sc in same st as joining and each st and ch-1 sp around. Join with CC1 and a sl st to first sc.
Rnd 4: Ch 1; working in BL, sc in same st as joining and each st around. Join with CC2 and a sl st to first sc.
Rnd 5: Ch 1; working in BL, sc in same st as joining and each st around. Join with a sl st to first sc.
Rnd 6: Sl st in first 3 sts, rep Rnd 2.
Rnd 7: Rep Rnd 3.
Rnd 8: Rep Rnd 4 with CC1, changing to MC at the end of rnd.

Row 3: Ch 1; working in BL, sl st in each st across. Sl st to next sc on hat Rnd 38. Turn.
Rows 4–70 (4-75, 4-80): Rep Rows 2–3. Sl st last row of band to first row of band. Finish off.
