1 quart low-sodium beef broth
1 cup tomato sauce
½ cup minced onion
1 cup chopped cabbage
2 cups chopped mixed vegetables of your choice
½ teaspoon basil, thyme, or oregano, or a mixture
⅛ teaspoon pepper
¼ cup uncooked small pasta shells or noodles
Combine the beef broth, tomato sauce, onion, cabbage, mixed vegetables, herbs, and pepper in a large kettle over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil. Add the pasta, reduce heat, and simmer for 10 minutes or until pasta is tender.
