Nonurgent Evaluation of the WCTs

Having read the last few pages, should we just stop there and go watch some old ER reruns on TV? No, because now we are entering the nonurgent period. The nonurgent period begins when the patient has reached a state of hemodynamic stability and an adequately controlled rate. At that point, we need to go back to the beginning and reassess our preliminary diagnosis and treatment strategies. We do this by systematically working through an organized approach using the established protocols and criteria we will cover in Chapter 36, Wide-Complex Tachycardia: Criteria. After all, the more definitive the diagnosis, the better. The goal during this phase is to achieve the most definitive diagnosis you can make, while providing a focused therapeutic response based on that diagnosis.
