WINDOWSILL HERB PLANTER

I love to use fresh herbs in cooking—the taste is so much better than from a jar. But finding an out-of-the-way place for them in the kitchen can be challenging. Fortunately, this creative Windowsill Herb Planter tucks right on a windowsill without taking up much space. Plus, you have to enjoy using a chicken feeder tray to plant herbs. It is a farmhouse-style piece with a bit of a sense of humor.

MATERIALS

  1. Remove the top section of the feeder and plan the layout of your plants.

  2. Pull your plants out of their containers and separate them from the extra dirt. Add a layer of extra dirt to the bottom of the feeder.

  3. Thread each plant through an opening in the top of the feeder.

  4. Reattach the top of the feeder to the base and press each plant into place.

  5. Use chalk to label your plant markers with the names of the plants and insert them in the feeder.

TIPS & RECOMMENDATIONS

Because of the angle of the planter, watering your herbs might be tricky. Simply set your feeder in your sink when it is dry and add a little bit of water with the spray nozzle of your faucet. Let the planter sit for a little while, wipe the bottom, then put it back in place.
