ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Annie and Dan Shannon have lived all over the United States but now have a real home with two spoiled cats and a growing graphic novel collection in Brooklyn, New York. During her years as an activist Annie has worked in a wide variety of roles ranging from sexual assault counselor to fashion industry liaison promoting animal-friendly fashion, and playing a key role in Project Runway winner Jay McCarroll’s fur-free fashion show at New York Fashion Week in 2006. In college, Dan served as president of the Wesleyan Animal Rights Network—the first campus animal rights organization to successfully lobby their school administration to use only cage-free eggs on campus, setting a precedent for many more to follow. Since college, Dan has worked for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, where he was the director of youth outreach and campaigns. These days Annie gets to focus full-time on veganizing everything and has completely given in to her inner nerd, which she likes to think of as “Geek Chic.” Dan is the director of strategy at the social movement consulting firm Purpose and enjoys the wide range of superpowers this solar system’s yellow sun gives him.
