Sandra and Elwyn were talking over pizza one night and came up with a really great idea for an app. They agreed to start working on it the next week. When they got together Sandra wanted to look at other apps to see how they functioned. She wanted to design some practice apps before they got started on their actual app. Elwyn wanted to get coding right away, but he went along with Sandra’s suggestions. At their second meeting Elwyn had mapped out some of the app, but Sandra didn’t have time to work on the user interface before the meeting as they had agreed. Sandra kept shifting the conversation. They spent most of the meeting discussing what they should do for marketing, possible pun-filled names, and schedules for rolling out updates after the app was released. Months went by and several meetings were canceled by Sandra. After a couple more non-productive meetings, Elwyn gave up on Sandra and started designing the app himself. Two weeks later, an app which did exactly what they had planned hit the market and became a huge success.
If people are holding you back you have three choices: let them, bring them with you, or leave them behind. You know what you need to do to move forward. Whether you like it or not, you know. Sometimes it is a hard reality to face. Watch for those who are willing to help you and will make the process easier. When they come along, go. When you receive a sign, go. When you feel you want to, go. Do not wait for the perfect moment or the best possible time. It will never come. Go Now. Don’t third, fourth, and fifth guess yourself – Go Now. You may stumble; you may not go far today, but that doesn’t matter. Go Now.
Shut the door, turn on some music, and dance for at least 10 minutes. Get your heart rate up and those endorphins flowing. Whenever I don’t feel like doing anything is the time when I know I need to do something. Dancing is more fun than plain old exercising and it really can make you feel ready to conquer the world.
