The Passion Flower Position

I created this position for Redbook magazine to meet their three criteria: greater intimacy than most intercourse positions for her, longer-lasting state of high arousal for him, and exceptional orgasms for both. The Passion Flower, an adaptation of the classic Yab-Yum (page 361), proved popular with both testers and readers.

Sit in the center of your bed facing each other. His legs can be straight out or bent at the knees. Wrap her legs comfortably around his body so that she is sitting on his thighs.

Each places his or her right hand at the base of the other’s neck and left hand at the base of the spine. Caress each other’s necks and stroke up each other’s backs. Eye gaze and kiss with open eyes.

Insert his erect penis into her vagina so that the shaft exerts as much indirect pressure on her clitoris as possible. Rock together, slowly rubbing backs and kissing. Because of the intense clitoral stimulation the position provides, she should be able to reach orgasm this way, while the lack of deep thrusting helps him sustain intercourse.

After her first orgasm, they can move into one of their favorite positions affording more vigorous thrusting.
