About the Author

ELLEN SKRMETTI GOT HER START in comedy by making her customers laugh while working as an advertising representative for some of the best social magazines in Jackson, Mississippi, and Nashville, Tennessee. Once her family moved to Birmingham, she decided to get serious about comedy and studied stand-up comedy at the premier school of comedy, Second City. Her teachers and classmates helped her find confidence in telling stories of her colorful upbringing in the South. She had just started booking herself at comedy clubs when the 2020 COVID-19 shutdown happened. Although she thought her dream was over, she turned her comedy into social media sketches. After nine months of growth that was slower than molasses, her sketch “If the Queen Died in the South” went viral. She kept posting comedy and has never looked back. Still making millions laugh online, she also sells out live shows across the US.

She lives in Birmingham, Alabama, with her husband, Tim, and children, Meg and Nikolas.
