My goal in part 2 of this book is to share with you the lessons I’ve learned growing up as the daughter of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and in my current role as vice president and co-owner of JR Motorsports. Now that you have heard some of my story, I think you’ll understand more about how I came to value these lessons and why I think they’re so important.
Some lessons I learned watching racecars vie for position on the track or listening to conversations among pit crews. Some I learned through the therapy that helped me make peace with my past and become willing to embrace a better future. Other lessons I learned sitting at my desk, reviewing contracts, managing financials to make sense in a competitive sport with large amounts of money at stake, or trying to figure out how to best manage people, our most valuable resource. I am grateful for them all, and I hope they serve you well.
