Tip

Puff stitch uses a large amount of yarn with each stitch. It is worth ordering slightly more than the recommended quantity to avoid running out of yarn from the same dye lot. Your supplier may accept returns of unused yarn, but if not, you will have a useful addition to your “stash.”

Tip

Take care to maintain the length of the loops of yarn as you wrap them around the hook when creating the puff stitch to help create neat and even stitches throughout.

FOR THE BORDER

Work 1ch, 1dc in each st around entire shawl working [1dc, 1ch, 1dc] in each point. Join with sl st in first st. Fasten off.

MAKING UP AND FINISHING

Weave in all loose ends and block to measurements.

Make it yours

The texture of this stitch makes a really bold shawl! Add a flash of colour with stripes by alternating yarn colours every few rows or introducing occasional pops of colour.
