Sparkling STARS

These sweet little stars are created with only two rounds of crochet, so they are surprisingly quick to make. What’s more, the wrap is worked by joining each of the stars as you go so it will be ready to wear in no time!

For the Stars

Round 1: Using 4mm (US G/6) hook, make a magic ring. Work 3ch (counts as 1tr), 11tr into the ring, join with a sl st in 3rd ch of 3ch. (12 sts)

Round 2: *2ch, 1dtr in next st, picot, work 3dc around the post of dtr, 1dc in next st; rep from * a further 5 times finishing the last repeat with a sl st in 3rd ch of 3ch from Round 1.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Tips

The individual star motifs are joined-as-you-go, by passing the stitches from one star through the previous star as you work the picot point.

Y

Take time to weave in the ends of each star as you finish it. It’s really tempting to leave them until the end, but you’ll be so glad you didn’t when you finish the project!

FOR THE WRAP

Join stars as-you-go at the creation of the picot point as follows: Work 2ch at the point of the star, pass the stitch through the picot point on the next star and work the remaining picot with sl st in first stitch and then continue working the star.

Make and join stars in the following colour sequence:

Row 1: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H.

Row 2: H, A, B, C, D, E, F, G.

Row 3: G, H, A, B, C, D, E, F.

Row 4: F, G, H, A, B, C, D, E.

Row 5: E, F, G, H, A, B, C, D.

Row 6: D, E, F, G, H, A, B, C.

Row 7: C, D, E, F, G, H, A, B.

Row 8: B, C, D, E, F, G, H, A.

Rep this 8-row sequence three times (24 rows in total), making and joining 192 stars; 24 in each colour.

MAKING UP AND FINISHING

Weave in any remaining ends and block to measurements.

Make it yours

The colour repeat is worked by moving one star to the left on each row; mix things up by working the stars in a random design, or create solid blocks of colour with stripes.
