31 How to Connect with the Angels of Your Garden

Angel Sachluph is the angel of plants and flowers, and Angel Cathetel is the angel of the garden. These nature-protecting angels will help your garden grow.

Place an image of an angel in your garden—such as an angel-shaped mirror or piece of stained glass, a stone or crystal figure in a container, a stone cherub, or angel wings, or you could plant a seedling or buy a plant that appeals to you. Cathetel’s plant is lavender, but you can choose any plant that evokes your guardian angel or other angels, too.

You might call the angels into your garden with color, with spring bluebells for Archangel Michael, cerise roses for love and Archangel Haniel, lilies and orange gerberas for Archangel Gabriel, but always go with whichever plants and flowers you adore the most. Painting angel wings on flat stones and finishing them with exterior varnish adds an angelic touch to even the tiniest of outdoor spaces.

MAKING AN ANGEL MEMORY GARDEN

Acknowledging other people’s positive role in your life is a pathway to self-healing if you are dealing with loss. Making a memory garden means you can create something small but beautiful in the name of a beloved person or pet.

Angel statues have in recent years become shrines for bereaved parents; “Angels of Hope” are placed in parks where the bereaved can gather and pray together for their lost children.

You will need an angel figurine to watch over your memory garden. You can use figurines of butterflies or birds, too. Buy a pot of rosemary for remembrance, a pot of sage, for healing sorrow, and one more—choose from borage with its pretty blue leaves for joy and courage, lavender for calm, or common (garden) angelica, with its white flower clusters, for spiritual protection. Three is an important number in this ritual because it is dynamic—a number of creation that keeps memory alive in a positive way, so you can move forward while never forgetting the person’s role in your life.

* Make an angel blessing scroll (see Tip 21) naming the person or pet. If you have space in your garden, plant the herbs and bury the scroll close to the rosemary. If you are making your memory garden on a windowsill, balcony, or terrace, keep the herbs in their pots.

* Hold your angel figurine for a few moments. Beginning by grounding, protecting, and opening up (see pages 910), and naming the person or pet. Say: “Angel Zadkiel, please bless the memory of [name]. I dedicate this space to xx. May s/he rest in peace in my heart and my memory. I give thanks for the love [or inspiration/joy/other quality] they have given me.” Thank Archangel Zadkiel. Place the angel figurine by the herbs, and close down (see page 11).

* Tend your memory garden regularly and know that your angels are caring for your loved ones.
