Packed with vitamin C, this smoothie offers great possibilities and other great phytochemicals. It’s been known to make your total cholesterol level fall. This makes you 6.8 days younger! |
Bananas, berries, orange juice, soy milk (vitamin C, isoflavones, potassium, antioxidants, flavonoids, folic acid, fiber) |
ingredients
2 cups cut-up honeydew melon
2 cups frozen or fresh hulled, halved strawberries
2 cups frozen raspberries or other berries
2 tablespoons frozen orange juice concentrate
4 ice cubes or 1 cup crushed ice
1 large tablespoon quick oats
preparation
Combine all ingredients in a blender container. Cover; blend until smooth.
substitutions: One glass of orange juice can replace the tablespoon of orange juice concentrate. Frozen blueberries or mixed berries may replace raspberries. If fruit is fresh rather than frozen, add 2 more ice cubes.
tips: This frosty fiber-packed breakfast shake must be served cold. With a few nuts, this works as a great afternoon snack or as a quick breakfast. A tip of the chef’s hat to Linda DeFrancisco for this. She has a friend who had high blood pressure and high total cholesterol. Since substituting this drink for her normal saturated-fat breakfast, her blood pressure and total cholesterol have marched toward normality.
