Peaches, berries (flavonoids, potassium, antioxidants, fiber)

ingredients

2 large or 4 small ripe peaches, sliced

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Pinch of nutmeg

½ cup (2 ounces) fresh raspberries

½ cup (2 ounces) fresh blueberries

3 tablespoons (1 ounce) mini-chocolate chips (real cocoa, not milk chocolate)

preparation

Combine sliced peaches with cinnamon and nutmeg; transfer to four serving plates. Top peaches with raspberries, blueberries, and chocolate chips.

substitutions: Unpeeled sliced nectarines may replace the peaches, and blackberries may replace the raspberries. White peaches are especially succulent and sweet; look for them in the summer.

tips: Keeping the well-washed skin on the peaches increases the amount of dietary fiber in this simple, easy dish. A drizzle of liqueur—perhaps Chambord, a raspberry liqueur—would make this simple dessert elegant.
