ingredients

½ cup frozen apple juice concentrate, not thawed

1 cup cinnamon applesauce, such as Mott’s brand

1¼ cups vanilla or plain fat-free or light soy milk

1½ cups low-fat vanilla frozen yogurt

1¼ teaspoon apple pie spice

preparation

Combine all ingredients in blender container. Cover; blend at high speed for 1 minute. Pour into frosty mugs, if desired.

substitutions: Allspice may replace the apple pie spice. If you can’t find cinnamon applesauce, add ¼ teaspoon cinnamon to a cup of applesauce.

tips: Blending for a full minute dissolves the tiny bit of graininess from the applesauce. Blend the smoothie at your blender’s highest setting to get extra lift and lightness in each mouthful. If you like it a little less sweet, use half of the apple juice concentrate.
