Chapter One
Chapter Two
"I already said. I went with him. I'll make a long story short, okay? I became part of a gang that was led by a guy named Larry Bateman, but really run by a man in Birmingham, Titus Leopold. Under threat of personal pain or death to our families, we pretty much broke every law in the books."
Chapter Three
Wedged sandals completed my outfit. A quick glance in the mirror revealed a casual look that showed off the curves I'd inherited from my mom, something yesterday's sloppy attire hadn't. Yeah, I'd grown up since Zeke last saw me--up and out. Would he notice that I'd dressed with such care today? Probably not. He had a lot on his mind, after all, but part of me was clearly never going to give up hoping that someday he'd not only look, but see.
"No idea." I updated my GPS and off we went with Zeke nervously tapping his heel on the floor all the way there. Campaign headquarters turned out to be an office in a good-sized strip mall. Red, white, and blue banners set it apart from the neighboring stores. As before, we both scoped it out before either of us made a move. "Just me again?"

Cultures the world over revered real wolves. Some groups even credited them with mystical characteristics. Hollywood had done its part, too, further fanning the flames of imagination with films that romanticized the myth. Maybe that's why part of me embraced Zeke's wolf tale. Daughter of a man who'd gotten his doctorate in mythical studies, I sincerely wanted it to be true.
Chapter Eight
"Apparently that part isn't going to change."

Chapter Ten
That night, I dreamed about the gray wolf again. Was it my gray werewolf? Free and loping through the woods, he was part of the night. I woke around one a.m. with my heart thumping in my chest. Without hesitation, I leapt from my bed and ran down the dark hall, only to crash into Zeke midway.
"He's part Native American, Quantauk tribe. Ever heard of it?"

Chapter Twelve
"I want that part most of all."
"You survived it; I can, too. Besides, I want to know everything. It's part of who you are now, and how else can I help you?"
Chapter Thirteen
Zeke opened the book and glanced at the balance. Though his expression didn't change, I could tell he was surprised. "Why didn't you tell me before now?"
"At the first interview." He looked a little sheepish. "The second time I went there, I looked at the room. It's just four walls and a closet. The bathroom is down the hall. I have no kitchen privileges or anything, but they were willing to take the rent out of my weekly check. Guess I don't have to do that now, though." He patted the checkbook tucked into his pocket.

Chapter Sixteen
Well, it was for me. While I agreed with Zeke's principles in theory, part of me still hated to waste our weekend alone. We might not get another chance like this, and I'd loved him so long that sex seemed like a normal next step. Too bad my love was still new to him.
Chapter Sixteen
"Do you miss that part of being an animal?"
