Sayings 36 and 37 come from Plutarch’s Moralia.
Sayings 38–42 come from Stobaeus who heads all but 41 “by Rufus [Musonius] from Epictetus’ remarks [or from Epictetus] on friendship”; 41 is headed “from the same source.”
Sayings 43–48 come from Arrian’s Discourses of Epictetus.
Sayings 49–52 come from Aulus Gellius, Attic Nights, and are in Latin, although Gellius intersperses some Greek.
Saying 53 comes from Aelius Aristides, Orations LII.
