Mulata is the story of the weird and hilarious apprenticeship of a mestizo couple in the priesthood of Witchcraft. Celestino Yumi is a poor peasant known as the Fly Wizard who sells his wife to the god of corn in return for infinite wealth and a voluptuous Mulata.

But the Mulata turns out to be bisexual, a dangerous moon spirit. When he attempts to return to his first wife, Yumi is drawn into a vast struggle with all the gods of the legend.

He and his wife visit the City of Magic, Tierrapaulita, where they undergo a series of transformations. The final struggle is a nightmare panorama with Indian forces pitted against distorted Christian powers.
