Excerpt from Shakespeare's History of King Henry the Sixth, Vol. 3: Part III
As this play was an old one, revised to some ex tent by Shakespeare in his 'prentice days, it is very seldom, if ever, read in secondary schools and Shake speare clubs, or by other students and readers until they have become somewhat familiar with the dramatist. These and other minor reasons naturally affected my treatment of the play in the original edition of 1882, and have also had their influence in the present revision. The general plan of the new series has, however, been thoroughly carried out in both the introduction and the notes.
