When making a Perfect Margarita, shake well with ice in a cocktail shaker, then strain into a chilled glass. Or serve with ice “on the rocks.”
Makes 1 cocktail
Kosher salt or granulated sugar (optional)
1½ ounces tequila (añejo, reposado, or silver)
1 ounce orange brandy (Grand Marnier) or liqueur (triple sec)
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1 ounce agave nectar or Bar (Simple) Syrup (see here)
Lime wedge
If desired, rim 6 chilled margarita or cocktail glasses with kosher salt or sugar (see here). Set aside.
In a cocktail shaker with ice, combine the tequila, orange brandy, lime juice, and agave nectar.
Shake the container well, 6 or 7 times, and pour through the shaker strainer into the chilled glass. Garnish with a wedge of lime.
