Wig paradise
Do you need an old-fashioned silver sailboat attached to a Marie Antoinette-style wig? Maybe a plastic surfer riding a wave of hair atop a vivid blue wig with hibiscus flowers planted at the bottom ready to catch his fall? How about a green wig softly teased out with peacock feathers and jewels? Fifi Mahony’s has it all and more. In business since 1997, Fifi Mahony’s is the place to shop for wigs, cosmetics, and anything of a sparkly nature.
Although Fifi Mahony’s specializes in custom wigs, they also have row upon row of ready-to-wear wigs, such as tangerine beehives, rainbow-colored Afros, and scarlet pageboy bobs, with a selection of colors and styles so appealing that it is like an ice-cream shop for your head. Two scoops or one? With more than 100 wigs to choose from, starting around $45, customers can either shop and go, or work with a stylist for customization, and purchase accessories for extra adornment. But if you’re looking for something a little more permanent, Fifi Mahony’s also has a salon inside the store that offers cuts, color, extensions, and brow and makeup services. Owner Marcy Hesseling says that on many occasions, clients will love their wig color so much that they get their hair dyed to match. The shop also carries a line of traditional wigs, catering to clients with hair loss and anyone who prefers to blend in instead of stand out.
