Simple Meditations to
Increase Psychic Abilities
As we discussed in Chapter 1, we are breaking the Western notion that yoga is just about physical exercise. This deeply esoteric and ancient practice is much more about expanding consciousness through many techniques than it is about the flexibility or weight loss that many in the West equate the idea with. Now we are going to look into one of the biggest, if not the biggest, component of yoga that will awaken your psychic abilities, which is meditation. Some yoga meditations involve sound, and you chant to tune into a certain frequency. Some yoga meditations include visualizations and some include mudras (hand positions) or breathing.
These valuable keys to the doors of the third eye are used throughout the world, and each of these meditations have had many books written on the topic they work within. Here I am presenting four meditations that are geared toward psychic development on a beginner’s level. Without the proper foundation, deeper meditative practices will not work and you won’t be able to get deep enough in your meditations to make them effective. The trifecta of physical poses, breathing exercises, and meditations will unlock your intuition so you can start to shift and see the veil of reality that shrouds most of society. People who do not have access to psychic abilities are more easily manipulated and do not see how the masses are often dumbed down through marketing of lifestyle brands and activities that do not make them feel or live any better but actually deplete their energy and health.
The freedom you receive when you open your psychic abilities can be disheartening at first because you may feel like you’ve been lied to by large companies who are making a profit feeding people unhealthy food or telling people they need this or that expensive purchase to be happy. The lies we are told about needing to look a certain way in order to be powerful or find love, as well as the need for a partner in order to be satisfied, all start to unravel as a story that the media tells us to get us to spend money. You may get angry, but if you continue to meditate, you’ll start to have compassion for those who live in fear and ignorance of their soul, thinking there is nothing beyond the physical realm.
Meditation can offer you a deep sense of what you truly are besides the body. It can help you sense, and you will know your own mind so that you can see how your own negative thoughts can be shifted. Meditations that are common yoga practices are more empowering than any magic pill or weight loss program that promises to make you happy. It can help you overcome the fear of being alone, the insecurities that can come from superficial cultures, and the pain that can come from losing someone we love. It can give us purpose, help us see what the world needs to reach a happier state, and it can allow us to be free of fears that may have stalked us for years. Very simple things that may really bother us, like a bad credit score or an insult that someone hurt you with, will no longer have the power to make you miserable when you are the director of your mind. This is what the yogis knew and experienced for thousands of years. It’s even documented that Jesus spent years studying with Tibetan yogis.
Chant Om for Ten Minutes
This meditation involves a simple chant of the om. This is said to be the primordial sound of the universe, and monks have chanted it for eons. The chant is to be vocalized in a monotone voice and held for as long as you can without feeling like you’re struggling. The sound soothes your nerves and puts you into a peaceful frequency. Many books include the practice of chanting om for intuition development. You can find videos on YouTube to chant along with that can help you focus and show you how it sounds.
The sound itself vibrates the upper chakras as well as the pineal gland, which helps to decalcify it. The pineal gland, the gateway to the soul, is the main thing you will work with when opening your psychic abilities. In order to decalcify it, it’s important you eat lots of plants, avoid fluoride in toothpaste and water, and avoid sugar, alcohol, and red meat. The pineal gland will start to activate with this meditation, and you may see colors or images during the ten-minute practice. You may see images of yogis that used this sound current and taught it, and you may even receive messages during or after chanting it.
To begin, sit cross-legged on a cushion with a straight spine or in a chair. Set your timer for ten minutes and take a deep breath in. Start your timer as you begin to chant. Focus your mind at the third eye point. Make sure each inhale is deep and inhale through the nose. You will feel the resonance in your heart and throat as you chant om. You may notice that your vocal cords feel strained at first, and this will go away as you practice this meditation. You can also lower the volume of your chant if you find your throat is straining. Find a note that is not too low or too high so you do not feel like you’re straining. You may find that someone else may chant lower because they have a naturally lower register. There’s not really a wrong way to do it.
If you find your mind drifting, focus on the quality of the sound and bring all of your energy to the third eye point. You may start to perceive the energy that connects all things like a web. After ten minutes, take a deep inhale and hold your breath for fifteen seconds before exhaling. Notice your energy and just sit peacefully and breathe normally. Write down anything that comes to you in this calm energy. Ask if there is something you need to know about your spiritual development and see if anything comes to you. Then write it down.
This meditation is good to start opening your third eye and great for those beginning on their journey. It can be much stronger if you do it in a group because the group energy links together. If you want to deepen your meditations, meditation with experienced practitioners is good for beginners. Longtime healers and yogis have a clear and large energy field as well as experience going into deep meditation, so it’s essentially like hopping on their train when you meditate with them.
Meditation to Clear Your Chakras
This meditation is a classic yoga meditation that is used in all psychic development courses. It will become a foundation in your psychic development, and many clairvoyants use this daily if not multiple times per day. There are seven chakras that are located in the body, and these energy centers must all be active and clear to access your psychic energy. Clearing your chakras is essential to your intuitive abilities, and your ability to see with the third eye is strengthened as you visualize the chakras. You’ll be able to see which chakra needs more attention by visualizing each one in the meditation and spending time noticing the subtle differences day after day. You may find that your back pain is linked to a relationship issue that you can release, and you also may find you clear many things that were blocking you from success in all areas of life. It’s a very empowering habit to get into, to say the least.
In this meditation, all the energy that you visualize should spiral in a clockwise direction. Begin sitting in a cross-legged position with a straight spine or on a chair with your feet flat on the floor. You’ll want a journal nearby, and you may want to play chakra singing bowls or chakra music to help with the meditation. If you use the same music, it can cue your brain to go into meditation over time. Start breathing slowly and deeply and visualize energy spiraling around the base of your spine. The energy is red and connects like a tube all the way to the center of the earth. This grounds you to the earth for your meditation and allows you to tune into nature and the elemental energy.
Take a few breaths, focusing on this red energy, and then move your focus slightly up to just below the navel. Visualize a strong orange energy here as you breathe slowly and deeply. Visualize it spiraling around this area. Visualize the energy the size of an orange here. This is your creative energy. Now take a few deep breaths and then shift your focus to the point where the ribs meet. Visualize a yellow energy spiraling here. Take a few slow deep breaths and watch the energy strengthen. Once you feel it’s strong, shift your focus to the heart. Take a deep breath in through your nose and visualize a vibrant green energy spiraling at the heart. Feel it expand with each breath out through your nose.
Start to shift your focus to the throat and visualize a beautiful blue energy spiraling around this area. Breathe as you see it strengthen and know this is how you communicate with spirit. Take a few more breaths, focusing on that blue energy, and then let your focus shift to the third eye point at the brow. Take a deep breath in and see a vibrant purple color emanating in all directions as far as you can see. Breathe as you see this energy spread and sense that it brings you information. When you’re ready, take a deep breath and bring your attention up to the top of the head. Visualize a white energy spiraling up as far as you can see. Breathe and see this connection strengthen. Sense spirit connecting you to the higher dimensions through this white light. Feel all the chakras now charged, flowing, and healthy. Take one final deep breath and slowly open your eyes.
Write down anything that stood out in your meditation. The first things that come to mind are usually significant and shouldn’t be ignored, no matter how small they may seem at the moment. Next, notice if you perceive anything in your energy field that has shifted or is coming into your awareness and write it down.
Fun Fact: Yogis strengthen the prana in their body using a special tea with cardamom, black pepper, cloves, cinnamon, black tea, and ginger. This helps them have energy to do yoga and boosts their overall health to keep them feeling good and maintaining a higher frequency.
Meditation to Bring Energy
to Your Third Eye
This is a very important beginning step in activating your third eye. The pineal gland becomes active when we send more energy to it. There is a law of the universe that says energy flows where attention goes. Often our energy is scattered in many places and we are thinking about many things at once. Getting the third eye open requires meditation specifically focusing all of your energy on this point. Your mind has a lot of energy, and focusing on just one point improves your psychic abilities. This allows us to become fully aware of the third eye and have just one focus.
Much of the yogic art depicts the third eye and the experiences one has through it. This art goes back thousands of years. Egyptian leaders were highly aware of the third eye and used psychic advisors to help them make major decisions. The mystical third eye is able to see beyond time and space. Once you open it, you may not be able to know if information is about the past or future, but just being able to see clear images like a movie is a great start. To get there, just as you put deodorant on each day, you can begin focusing on the third eye each day.
Start by sitting in a cross-legged position with a straight spine or on a chair with your feet flat on the floor. Do anything you need in advance to make sure your back will be comfortable. Maybe sit on a cushion or put one behind your back. You can play spiritual music that induces a relaxed state of mind to help you, as well as burn incense and dim the lights to lower the active, stimulated side of the brain from being awake. Now begin to breathe slowly and deeply through your nose and relax your entire body. You will continue breathing in and out of the nose throughout this meditation.
Now visualize a bright white light in the distance. As you breathe and relax, it starts to come closer. It is as small as a pinhead but so bright. Watch the light move from the right to the left and from the left to the right. It slowly starts to pick up speed until it’s moving so fast that it’s a line, then it stops in front of your nose. It moves up and then down, down and then up. It begins to pick up speed until all you see is a line, then it stops in front of your brow point.
You now see this is an eye: the all-seeing eye. Notice if the eye is open or closed; if it is closed, ask it to open. When the eye opens, visualize stepping into the eye and into a new world. Perhaps the laws of gravity are very different here, and perhaps you see that time and space are not linear. In this realm you can meet your past selves and your guides eventually. For now just notice how vibrant and loving this place is. Notice any sensations you may have in your head as you bring your energy here. If you’re not getting any images, that’s okay; they will come with time. For now just trust that you will get there.
Now that you have opened your third eye, send your prayer out to the universe that the yogis that have come before you, the saints, sages, and mystics, as well as the angels and spiritual helpers, will help you keep your third eye open and continue to develop spiritually. They want to help, but they can’t unless you ask. Many yogis spend time in meditation communicating with the spirits of the ancestors. Slowly prepare to come back to the room by taking three deep breaths. When you’re ready, become aware of the space around you and notice how you feel. While the visualization is still fresh in your mind, write down anything that you’d like to remember or that stands out to you. You can continue to use the white light visualization to strengthen and further open your third eye vision center over time.
Meditation to Expand Your Aura
This meditation is going to help you sense other people’s energy. The aura is going to expand with the breathwork from Chapter 2, but you can also expand it by focusing your mind on it. Intention is a powerful energy that can shift your aura. This may help you sense energy in your home, when walking down the street, or getting your morning coffee. If it becomes too much, you can also use your intention to pull your aura in if you want to be left alone or don’t want to receive so much information. In a large, crowded place like an airport, you can practice pulling your energy field in so that you can protect it from all the energy and anxiety in the room. This can help if you feel like someone is going to approach you and bother you. A simple shift in your energy may be unconsciously perceived by them, and they may not even approach.
Begin by sitting with a straight spine in a cross-legged position or on a chair with your feet flat on the floor. Breathe slowly and deeply in and out of your nose. Allow your entire body to relax and become fully present to the sound and quality of your breath as it moves through your body. Now start to perceive, in your mind’s eye, the perimeter of your aura. Is it close in or a few feet away? Allow yourself to see the aura as a shimmering silver energy that surrounds you. Now begin the powerful deep breathing you learned in Chapter 2 and focus on expanding your aura above your head. Each inhale pushes it further up. Go around all sides of your body and watch the perimeter expand. Take a few final breaths to charge up the aura that is now expanded and sit in it, feeling what is different now that you’re aware of a larger space around you. Take a mental note of how you feel and any energy that is presenting itself to you. To come out of the meditation, take three deep breaths and then slowly open your eyes.
Write down anything that stands out to you about the meditation and date your journal entry. Write down anything you’d like to remember or something you’d like to explore further.
Candle Gazing
This is a traditional yogic exercise that helps you increase your ability to concentrate. As you spend more time in meditation to access the spiritual realms, concentration will be a necessary skill. We know that in today’s technology age, our attention span is at an all-time low. The younger we are, the lower our attention span is. We can be aware of this and shift it using this ancient practice. There’s no trick to this besides using your ability to focus. There is no calling in of spirits or anything out of the ordinary. You may even discount this meditation, thinking it’s not as glamorous as the others, but please do not. It is worth stating again that without the ability to focus for extended periods of time, you’re very unlikely to be able to communicate clearly and connect with the spiritual realms without lots of distraction. It may seem unproductive, but training your mind is the most productive thing you can do for your entire life. It allows you to learn, assimilate information, and develop new ideas.
Psychically, this meditation also does something to your brain. When you’re focused at the brow point, it brings blood to the frontal lobe of the brain and activates the pineal gland. The attention will be at the brow during this thirty-minute meditation, although your eyes will be looking at a flame. You’ll want to place the flame in a calm environment and at the level of the middle of the nose. Focus your eyes first on the corona of light around the flame and then on the point just below the hottest part of the flame, where it’s dark. Keeping your focus here as you sit straight like a yogi is no easy task when you do it for thirty minutes. Your mind will wander, but continue to bring it back to the flame and the brow. Do not focus on hallucinations if you start to see multiple flames. Just try to see the flame that is right in front of you. It’s simple, but that simplicity will be a gateway to your ability to focus in meditations that require it to perceive subtle images, sounds, and feelings.
Fun Fact: Garlic, lemon, and oregano oil help to decalcify the pineal gland, known as the gateway to the third eye. Alkaline water also helps decalcify the pineal gland and reduces free radicals caused by acidic buildup in the body. This in turn lowers inflammation so you can meditate with less distraction and more comfort.
Intuition Check-In
Now that you’re working with yoga’s three main psychic development tools, you are probably starting to experience your intuition. There is much more to do, but let’s check in so you can see your progress. You’ve visualized, breathed, and learned about your chakras. In the next chapters, you will learn specific poses you can do to heal yourself and get your psychic energy flowing based on your emotional state. You’ll learn to target each chakra through specific poses.
For now, do this writing exercise so you can see that you are making progress. First, write down how your intuition has started to open. Write about the new level of energy you’re aware of at work. Write about how you are starting to pick up on what people are thinking. Perhaps you’re more sensitive to certain environments. Write down your observations without judging yourself. There’s no rush to opening your psychic abilities, so don’t beat yourself up if you only have a little bit to write down.
The next chapters will help you activate your energy and harmonize the main systems in your physical body so you can perceive energy without working so hard. Your muscles, blood, hormones, immune system, and brain will all function better as a result of doing the poses, so please do them and have fun with them. There is freedom in this process to go at your own pace and take breaks when you need to. It can start a detox process that can make you temporarily nauseous or tired. Any energetic detox is helped with lots of water and a clean diet.
Allow yourself to rest if you’re tired, and be proud of this journey toward empowerment and connection to your soul that you have embarked on.
