Fall is one of our favorite times to be at the beach—fewer crowds, cooler temps, and yes, football. On Saturday afternoons, this University of Georgia grad is all Bulldog, and my ramblin’ wreck of a husband and Georgia Tech alum is rooting for the rival Yellow Jackets. But instead of packing up and driving to Athens or Atlanta, we just tailgate on the downstairs porch at Ebbtide, where the grill is handy. A few years ago, when I was working on Spring Fever, I spent some time in Salisbury, North Carolina, the home of Cheerwine, which is a distinctive-tasting cherry cola made by a small family-owned company. Try these Cheerwine-glazed ribs and you’ll be won over. As the ribs (or pork butt) are cooking, we turn the televisions to all the main games being followed by our guests, and everybody’s happy. And there are no long treks to the stadium bathroom or parking snarls.
