Moving the Dock

The Dock normally appears on the bottom of the screen. However, you can make it appear on the left or right of the screen, as shown in Figure 5-3. To change the position of the Dock, you can use the Apple menu or the System Preferences window.

To change the location of the Dock using the Apple menu, do this:

1. Click the Apple menu and choose Dock. A menu appears (see Figure 5-1).

2. Choose Position on Left, Position on Bottom, or Position on Right. The Dock moves to its new location on the screen.

To change the location of the Dock using the System Preferences window, do this:

1. Click the Apple menu and choose System Preferences. The System Preferences window appears (see Figure 5-2).

2. Click the Left, Bottom, or Right radio button under the Position on screen group. The Dock moves to its new location on the screen.

3. Click the close button of the Dock window to make it disappear.
