DIAMOND ON DISPLAY

DIFFICULTY:

The facets on this pattern really make it pop! In this project, the string acts to draw the shape rather than fill it. There are more nails along the borders in this pattern, making it easy to fill if you prefer. If you go that route, be sure to follow up with a border in a contrasting color, to let the facets shine through. A double-wrap outline in black makes this piece stand out from across a room, and the nail heads sparkle in the light.

  1. Trim your photocopied pattern and position it on your board. I prefer the lower right corner for an asymmetrical look. Tape the pattern to the board.
  2. Hammer your nails through the black dots on the pattern. When you’re finished, tear off the paper and remove any leftover debris.
  3. Tie your string onto a nail (sealing your knot) and begin your outline. Refer to the pattern page if any areas get confusing. Connect the nails and follow up with the double-wrap technique. Don’t forget to seal your knots.
  4. Attach your picture-hanging hardware and felt pads to the back side. Sign and date your work and decide which room in your house needs just a little more bling.
