Kabbalistic Energy
Healing
Love, the true flow of the universe and connection to God, is a great healer. In kabbalistic energy healing, a unification of masculine and feminine creates a field of divine love in the heart. The gematria of this unification is twenty-six. The twenty-six divides into 2 x 13/ahava/love. The wellspring of love in the heart then flows out the hands for healing. This technique is a modification of Quantum-Touch.116
Conscious breathing is the key to continually replenishing the healing energy. The word for breath, neshima, has the same root as the word for soul, neshama. The breath used in this healing is a breath of the soul. It cleaves to God, the Infinite Light. God’s light is transformed to love, the source of healing.
As the healer, it is essential that you are comfortable with the breath. Two alternatives are given. I use them both and so have included both. First is the Breath of Love, also called aleph () breath, which was presented in chapter 15 and summarized below. Second is the YHVH breath, presented in detail. If you are familiar with a different form of healing touch than those presented here, try the addition of one of these breaths to your practice. They each connect to a different expression of God’s Holy Name to create a field of healing love which then flows from the heart out the hands.
As extensions of the heart, the hands are the channels for healing energy. As divine love flows from the heart out the hands, the recipient resonates with this vibration at whatever level they are open to allowing, and healing occurs.
Remember that the word for hand is yad/ and in Hebrew is spelled the same as the letter yud/
.
The letter yud represents the light of the divine spark. In Kabbalah the name of something reflects its essence. Therefore, the essence of the hand/yad is also the divine spark. It can be helpful to visualize the love flowing from the hands as divine sparks.
Therefore the breath has ten counts:
4 count inhale
1 count hold
5 count exhale
The Breath of Love is a visualization of the letter aleph with its three components (see Chapter 8).
![]() | upper yud |
![]() | vav |
![]() | lower yud |
The upper yud refers to: heaven/the K”BH.
The lower yud refers to: earth/the Shechina.
The vav, meaning and—the connection—waits for them in the heart.
There, the two yuds form a divine unification.
Together with the vav, they create an aleph/,
/the Holy Name/YY,
The gematria of the components of aleph: yud, vav, yud totals 26.
The ten-count Breath of Love is divided into:
Inhale, 4 counts
Pause, 1 count
Exhale, 5 counts
Inhale, counts 1 through 4:
Imagine the breath rising up from the soles of the feet (earth/Shechina) and down from the crown of the head (heaven/K”BH) at the same time. Vav, centered in Tiferet at the heart attracts the upper Yud of heaven and the lower Yud of earth to each other.
The Yud of heaven and the Yud of earth together create the Holy Name name YY. YY joins with the Vav to create Aleph/, (YVY)
Image 114—10 Counts Breath of Love
Pause, count 5:
In the heart, the coming together of YVY creates , whose components
add to gematria 26 . The 26 divides into 13 + 13/love + love.
As you pause on count 5, visualize the dividing into love-love
Exhale, counts 6 through 10:
Feel love flowing from the heart into the hands activating them to release divine sparks of healing.
The breath connects to YHVH and unites the four letters of the Name in the heart. Energy is gathered from earth beneath the feet and inhaled up the body out through Keter (the crown of the head). There it connects to the healing light of heaven. The energy is then exhaled back down to the heart. In the heart, YHVH, as gematria 26, is converted to 13 + 13/love + love and sent out the hands for healing. The Name YHVH is continuously visualized with the inhaled breath.
Preparation for Connecting to YHVH through the Breath
Before working with a healee, practice the breath until it feels comfortable and natural. You will be visualizing the letters of the Name, so familiarize yourself with them, especially their shapes and names. The Name is also filled with symbolism, presented in Chapter 8. You may want to reread this chapter before you proceed, but once you have reviewed the material it is important to stay out of your head as much as possible. Do not dwell on the symbols, just appreciate that the Name has many layers of meaning, specifically the unification of divine masculine and feminine. It is beautiful when some associations arise naturally with the conscious breath, but as you visualize the letters, try to focus on the sensations in your hands and the breath moving through your body. Visualizing the letters can provide enough of a mental challenge.
As you inhale, project the letters of YHVH/ in your mind, written vertically. Because the breath rises from earth to heaven, the Name is visualized backwards, from the final hei/
to the yud/
at the beginning. The inhale is similar to the instructions for Earth Grounding in chapter 14.
Open your body to earth energy, the realm of the Shechina. Imagine the breath entering from beneath your feet.
Inhale the breath from earth up the body, from the end of the name to the beginning: H-V-H-Y—crown of the yud
Repeat this visualization for every breath.
Inhale to a count of four visualizing
As you inhale, imagine you are connecting deeply to each letter, breathing in the light and power of YHVH. Try to stay focused on the letters and the path of the breath. As the breath rises in the body, imagine the healing life force rising as well.
As you exhale, focus on sending divine love out the hands. If divine love is too abstract a concept, it may be helpful to imagine the deep love you have for a person or even a pet, filling and expanding the heart to overflowing. It may also help to visualize the healing love leaving the hands as divine sparks.
YHVH Breath
The Inhale
Count 1: the inhale travels from the “roots” of the final hei/ up the legs
Count 2: the breath rises up the spine through the /vav
Count 3: the breath rises up the chest and arms through the /hei
Count 4: the breath rises up through the neck, head, and crown through the /yud
Count 5: Pause
Hold the breath briefly at Keter, at the tip of the yud. The tip of the yud symbolizes the closest connection to the influx of divine flow also called shefa/. Open the top of the head with your imagination. Picture a large funnel or satellite dish there, and receive the abundant flow of shefa. This moment of pausing between the inhale and the exhale is the moment that all the letters of the Name, here representing Heaven/K”BH and Earth/Shechina, come together.
The Five-Count Exhale
Count 1: The heart fills with love
Use your imagination to direct the YHVH/ breath down
from Keter into your heart.
In the heart, Tiferet, the gematria of YHVH
26, divides in 13/love+13/love.
Counts 2, 3, 4, 5
Feel the flow of this powerful love/life force from the heart
out through each of your hands.
Suggestion
“AH” is the natural sound of the exhaled breath. “AH” is also considered by many mystical traditions to be the sound of the heart chakra and is the vowel sound of ahava/love. It may help to experience the flow of love by ending the ten-count breath by slowly exhaling AH-HA-VA:
Hei-Vav-Hei-Yud
Hold
Heart
Love
AH-HA-VA
General Preparation
The field of healing created by running the energy through the body and out the hands is non-willful. Non-willful means that your own agenda must not be a part of the process. Healing takes many forms. Set your intention that the healing be for the highest good and then trust in the power of divine love and a higher knowing. We cannot fathom the mystery nor see the bigger picture. You are the vessel for healing so relax and allow the energy to flow freely through you. You may want to begin with a personal prayer or an appropriate psalm, but then get yourself out of the way.
Connecting to the Healee
Always discuss the process with the person you will be touching before you begin. They need to feel comfortable and safe to receive your touch. Check in with them as often as needed.
Place the hands lightly and gently on any body part that needs special attention. If the part cannot be touched or reached, hold the hands close to the body without making direct contact. Keep focusing on the breath.
Wherever the energies of the two hands meet, ahava reconnects with ahava and creates the healing power of YHVH or aleph, restoring Oneness, wholeness. Send this beam of healing love with your breath, touch, and intention, to the injured area.
Image 118—Love Restores Wholeness
Be aware of sensation in the hands. This sensation varies from person to person, but some sensation should be present such as vibration, tingling, pulsing, or heat. Keep the hands relaxed and soft throughout the session so healing energy can flow easily and smoothly through them. If you sense that you are taking on energy from the person you are healing, stop and shake your hands off before you continue. It is important to keep your boundaries secure.
Repeat the breath sequence throughout, building your endurance to 20 to 30 minutes. As you end the session, slowly remove the hands and both you and the recipient offer thanks and say Amen.
Emotional Healing
In addition to physical issues, it is possible to use the Breath of Love or YHVH Breath to help with emotional situations. The handholds shown are energy techniques that help to balance emotions and reduce stress. They allow the recipient to feel safe which enables greater openness to the power of the healing. These hand positions are also an excellent way to either begin or end a session for they bring feelings of comfort, calmness, and safety to the person being healed. Continue to connect to the flow of love throughout the healing as you practice either the Breath of Love or the YHVH Breath. Check in with the recipient as often as needed to ensure they are comfortable and feel safe to receive your touch.
Place your hands very lightly on the person’s head; there is no need to press. It may be uncomfortable for the person if anything more than the most gentle touch is used. The hands can also be positioned slightly off the body, although this may become tiring.
Remain in one position, shift if it feels right, or use your intuition to place your hands where they want to go on the head. Trust in the process. In the safe and non-willful field of love between your hands, the emotions can begin to heal themselves. Relax your hands as much as possible to facilitate the flow of healing love.
Following are two suggestions.
The hands create the position of the Priestly Benediction (see chapter 16). The fingers circle the ears. The thumbs rest gently on the main stress points of the body, halfway between the center of the eyebrow and the hairline.

Alternatively, one hand rests gently on the forehead, the other under the head. For the comfort of the giver, the person being healed can also turn the head to the side. It is important that you both are very comfortable.
Hold for five to ten minutes or until you and your subject sense you are done. This may be indicated by the feeling of steady pulsing in your hands. Advise the healee that you will be lifting your hands off their head, and slowly, gently, do so.

Self-Healing
Using either the Breath of Love or the YHVH Breath, place your hands on any part of yourself requiring extra love and attention.
Distance Healing
Prepare as if the person were with you. Picture them in front of you and then shrink the image and place it between your hands. Breathe and let the energy run as if the person were there. Sitting or lying directly on the earth will facilitate this transmission.

Do not be afraid to attempt these healings. The worst mistake you can make is to imagine that you are doing something wrong. Remember, these healings are non-willful and your intention is for the highest good. Place your trust in the love, light, and goodness of YHVH and you will create tikun, the reunion of soul and body, heaven and earth.
