Flowing with Tao – A Mindful Approach
All Things in Time – From Meditations to Specific Details
I allow myself meditation, rest, healthy vegetables and fruits in reasonable portions, boundaries, limits and freedom from attempting to be everything to everyone all the time. I direct my energy into my life and books going forward. I am allowed. I focus on my work, giving the best energy of my day into my poetry portfolio.
I value the sacredness of writing time and rituals to accompany it. I have a picture of my beloved screenwriting mentor, Michael Jacot, on my desk. Beside his image is a pocket Buddha, a gift from a student who has become a good friend. Each morning, I bring my tea, water and reasonable expectations to my ergonomic setup, pause to take in the spectacular view of the mountains out my studio window and begin the writing portion of my day. I learn when my most productive energy is and honor it as best as is possible in harmony with the rest of my life. Many of us are balancing variables beyond our control, often in expensive cities, so this is only a guideline to adapt from as is helpful.
