CHAPTER 1 Good morning Sir!, the security men at the black steel gate said, waving their hands to the man seated at the back seat, and in response, gave only a slight nod. The driver then drove past the gate, now taking the left side of the roadway meant for incoming vehicles and which led straight to the parking lot, circumventing a central pavement situated in the parking lot. The driver then killed the engine having stopped at the reserved parking space of the CEO and founder of Furnimat group of companies. Highlighting from the white range rover was Mr Williams Parker, a middle-aged man in his late fifties. His presence was mostly attributed to a man wearing a black or brown Bruno Capelo designer hat as this was customary in his dressing to work. Some employees in the office thought maybe he frequently wore hats in order to conceal his already receding hairline but to him, he saw it as just simply dressing to match. His deep brown eyes and slightly wrinkled face spoke of and could only relate to his hustles back in his late twenties when he just founded Furnimat group of companies. A company that began with furniture making and interior decorations. He had only learned carpentry and upholstery during his high school days as a personal vocational skill when he volunteered to learn at Tom's woodworks back home, mostly during the holidays. After completing his college education having read Business administration, he wasn’t actually inclined to living a life of six working days with a compulsory suit and tie to match every corporate action taken. He wanted something more liberal and inviting but lucrative. And he was compelled to rather start up with something he already knows than to work out all his life under some ruthless boss who doesn’t care about their employee. As carpentry and upholstery being the only thing he was already a master of at that time, he got himself a space, with the little money and contributions from close and trusted personnel, gathered the very necessary things and he needed to start. He made cushion chairs for the living room and sampled some of the masterpieces in a showroom. With help from friends and loyal customers, he was able to garner more public awareness towards a new brand of furniture making. Soon he was headed for stardom in his business, His works having been showcased and talked about by satisfied customers sparked a series of contracts for him and hence, an expansion for a larger business. After some few years, Furnimat furniture was domestically and nationally recognized as a leading brand in the market. As with every blooming and fast-expanding venture, it was necessary that he diversified in order to gain more grounds and obtain more baskets for his eggs so he then decided to venture into logistics and exportation of his products both internally and externally. Within a period of seven years, he was already worth hundreds of millions. Having gained fame and recognition he was in touch with other influential businessmen who partnered with him in venturing into other business investments such as the creation of other subsidiary holdings and companies, hence came the name Furnimart group of companies. Along the line, Williams had to employ the services of his sister, Veronica Parker and his younger brother, Allen Parker, who upon the death of their parents in an infamous plane crash at that time, decided to unite his siblings and make the bond of family between them closer as they are all they have left. Veronica supervised the accounting department, as was her line of career, while Allen, on the other hand, was a dropout and so he managed the Labour department. Though he has always been recalcitrant right from childhood, and also mischievous, Williams has, however, obliged to put up with his acts, besides, family is all that matters and he would want to keep it so.

CHAPTER 5 There was a room upstairs in the Parker’s mansion, taking the right from the top of the central staircase in the walkway. It was not too specious like the other rooms but it could comfortably accommodate two persons. It had two single cushion chairs with four wooden legs. It was the perfect place for an interrogation session according to detective Conan. The room had other minor but necessary furniture's but not as fanciful as the ones in the other rooms. With detective Conan was officer Steve who came as an accomplice and perhaps for security reasons. Detective Conan pulled off his coat and laid it on the arm of the chair he was to sit on. Mrs Jennifer was now seated on one of the cushion chairs, facing the detective who sat on the opposite chair. “So, Mrs Jennifer. Happy birthday in arrears, sorry it’s coming late actually” he said. “Thank you" she simply said. “So moving on Mrs Parker, I'll be asking you some questions and I demand nothing but your sincerity, okay?”.... “So help me God" Jennifer replied smiling maybe, how close you two were, if there was anything extra, perhaps," the detective asked. “To be clear detective, Lilian was a hardworking woman. She worked tirelessly, ensuring that everything around the house was in order and so on. Apart from that, all I know about her is that she is a widow. Her husband died a year after they got married, So she’s like alone” Jennifer stated plainly. “Oh, very well then. So lately was there anything weird you noticed around Lilian maybe like anything unusual that she started pulling up?” the detective asked inquisitively. “Surprisingly none, she’s been the same way ever since. Her character, as well as her service here was a satisfactory” she answered. “I see. So moving away from that, did you happen to notice anything unusual last night during or after your birthday. Did you suspect anything?”...... Jennifer paused for a while as if trying to remember a piece of crucial information, then she responded saying “Not really detective, Nothing went wrong or should I say, nothing seemed suspicious to me". The detective looked at her for a while, “Oh yea, I actually heard something. A kind of noise last night, while I was in bed. I honestly thought it was the maid or the butler working downstairs cause they sure had a lot of work to do last night" Jennifer said. “Okay then,” the detective said, then brought out his notebook and wrote some few things there. “Alright then Mrs Jennifer, you can go,” the detective said, “Oh, okay then" Jennifer stood up and left. “Hello Mr Parker,” Detective Conan said, as he stood up to shake him, please have your seat. “So Mr Williams sir, I'll be asking you some few questions and in return, I require your sincerity". “Sure, of course," Mr Parker replied. “So, how close are you to Lilian?” Detective Conan asked. “Honestly, it’s just an employer and employee kind of thing. Despite it being my wife who hired her though, we barely have anything beyond a formal relationship” Mr Parker said. “Okay then, have you noticed anything strange about her lately? Maybe an unusual behaviour or something like that".. “Honestly detective, I've noticed nothing off about her. Frankly speaking, Lilian has done really well for us. She works tirelessly and diligently” Mr Parker said softly.. “What a strong woman she was.... So moving on sir, did you notice anything strange last night, maybe before or after your wife’s birthday party?” Detective Conan inquired.... “Well not really detective, I actually crashed early” ...... “your wife said she heard disturbing noises downstairs while in bed, did you happen to hear this too," the detective asked leaning forward. “Not at all, although there was a time I woke up last night but she wasn’t in bed. So probably she was awake, maybe in the bathroom or so, but I heard nothing detective”.... “Okay then,” the detective said, jotting some things down in his notebook. Then he stood up and said “that would be all for now sir," he said to Mr Parker who stood up and received a handshake from him the detective was busy with his notes, jotting some things and reviewing them. So far the investigation hasn't yielded anything tangible. He could only refer to a trend that exists solely between Jennifer and Allen. They were the two persons so far who heard a disturbing noise in the dining room downstairs. Vincent had nothing for him, same with Gabriella and Veronica. Most less important was Patricia who didn't even ⁸know who the deceased was. He was still going through his note when Mr Richard came in. “You’re the butler right, Mr Richard?”... “Yes I am sir" he replied. “Do have a seat”. The butler sat and looked at detective Conan who was still jotting something down. He glanced at officer Steve who stood by a corner. “So, Mr Richard, you’re the butler of this big mansion. You certainly know everywhere in this house like the back of your palm. Let’s put aside any formal thing for now. Look, Richard, I don’t really know this Lilian, but so far from what I've heard, she was a good person who got what she didn’t deserve in the most gruesome of ways. Now you would agree with me that justice must be served on her behalf, no matter what it takes. Whatever it is you know, it would help me get to the bottom of this case . Trust me, Richard, you don’t have to always clean their mess. Lilian would want you to open up on this one for her sake. So tell me, Mr Richard, what's your take on this?”...... Mr Richard was already looking unease, the detective had really inspired him with his short speech, he simply said “yea, sure, of course, you’re right” as if being compelled. “Good, Now tell me what you feel I should know". Mr Richard looked at detective Conan straight in the eyes, then he looked at officer Steve who gave him a slight nod as if giving him permission to talk. Mr Richard then looked at detective Conan once more, letting out a sigh of relief before he said anything.
CHAPTER SIX On the outskirts of Newville in a direction eastward from the Parkers, mansion was a small remote vicinity. It was more of an intermediary location between the main Newville and Woodpark city. The area was always calm and quiet during the day but at night, it’s quietness shouldn’t be mistaken for sound security. Late travellers at night were wary of downtown Newville and would most times prefer to take another longer route along East Avenue which was in an area west of Newville as it was safer and led directly to the main Newville. Passers-by were timorous while taking downtown Newville due to the kind of people that lived there. One could track a criminals hideout to downtown Newville. Travelling from downtown Newville to its uptown would take about twenty minutes by road but circumventing downtown Newville and taking East Avenue would take up to an hour by road. The houses in the downtown area of Newville were mostly rented lodges and had deteriorating appearances. On one of the blocks was a brown painted four-storey building. On the second floor of the building was room thirteen where Dan, a blonde-haired young man in his late twenties lived. He was averagely tall and had a moderately muscular body. He was mostly indoor during the day and moved out occasionally at night. He barely had any real friends as those he knew were riffraff’s like him. He was lying on his bed, with his squinted drunken eyes staring at the ceiling. He recalled when he left the home of the family that took him in some year’s back in Newtown city where he grew up and was an hour drive from Newville. Dan was fed up with Mrs Nancy’s theory of patience and her always reminding him that everything was going to be okay. He wanted more from life but life hasn’t been friendly to him. Before he met Mrs Nancy, he was on the streets and alleys like a young lost lamb crying helplessly. Anyone who saw him would know that he didn’t belong to the street. It had been a day after the fire incident at his place. He recalled vividly how terrifying it was for him to watch with shimmering eyes as the whole building of his apartment where they lived was engulfed in flames. Whether it was a gas pipe leakage or a wire connection that caused it he couldn’t possibly know at that time but he was certain that things would’ve been different for him now. His mother Miss. Rose was a fair and very charming woman. Rose was a promiscuous young lady at the time she met a young influential businessman, and it was there that things unfolded and to the birth of Dan. Her lover then was a rich young man who she met at his office when delivering a package to him from her workplace. That was the day it all started, despite he was married she ignored it and traded it for a jolly youthful life which led to her having an unwanted pregnancy. She feared abortion and it's possible harm and ruled it out as an option. So the only choice they had was for Rose to secretly keep the baby but on the condition that she would move far away and he would constantly send her money allowances to settle her bills and everything expense incurred, which she agreed. Dan was very young then and so he had trouble remembering his dad’s face whenever he comes visiting. His full name was also unclear to him but sometimes he tries to recollect the full name but ended up failing to come up with it. During the fire incident, Rose had quickly taken him downstairs for safety and ran back upstairs to get something she felt was very important “I’ll be back sweetie" she said to him. But she never did. The fire was spreading fast now and gutted its nearby surroundings and with the heat its emitted, he had to leave the scene so he wouldn’t get burnt. The fire service was nowhere to be sound so people attempted to abate the fire. Soon after there were a multitude of people in the area and it was rather uncomfortable for him so he left the area started strolling helplessly across the street nearby and alley. And that was when Mrs Nancy came into the picture. With the explanation he gave to her, it sounded as if he had nowhere to go and so she decided to take him in. Mrs Nancy was a middle-aged private nurse, although it wasn’t paying her enough but she, however, decided to take Dan in out of pity and in remembrance of her daughter who was involved in a ghastly train accident with her father on their way to see her mother-in-law. Dan has never been the same ever since. He couldn’t cope in school and he began to develop anger issues over the years. He recalled hitting his classmate in sixth grade with a spanner for allegedly mocking his blonde hair. Nancy had talked her way into him, but she could only do her best. All that and every other thing mixed with the pain of being an orphan and alone created a rogue and drunk young man filled with nothing but an instinct to survive no matter what he was doing. He had tried meagre jobs, but the pay couldn’t last nor cater for his needs. And with not having a certificate whatsoever, theft was all that revolved around him as the only option. He tried to sit up on the bed using his hands as support but his fingers hurt him so bad “Damn!, so much stress for nothing" he grumbled. He reached for the remote on the bed and tried turning on his small-sized television in order to busy him from thinking. All he intended was to let the television play whatever was on air so his mind wouldn’t have to take him back in time to revise his wretched and unlucky existence. He randomly tuned to any channel and flung the remote on the bed. Just as he was about sinking himself back in his bed, what he heard from the television was a news report about the murder of a maid that took place earlier that day. He was less concerned about it knowing fully well the details. He was about dozing off when the reporter stated the full name of the wealthy businessman that owned the mansion where the maid worked. Like a glint in his memory indicating a familiar name in his head that he had long forgotten to remember. It was now revealed to him in full. With immediate alacrity, he jerked up from the bed to watch the news showing ardent interest to what the reporter was reporting. He watched keenly and earnestly at every detail stated about the mansion in main Newville hoping for something more to come about. After watching for a while, a picture of the influential businessman came up alongside that of his reported sister and brother. On sighting the picture, Dan's heart skipped a bit, his jaws dropped in shock, he felt a fire in his belle, a spunk, an intestinal fortitude. “The hell!” he exclaimed, still in shock.
CHAPTER 7 Detective Conan paid close attention to Mr Richard while he talked, taking down quick notes. “Well our mistress is actually an easy-going person, she made sure we had all we required for our duties and has been a very thoughtful person, but recently, he paused, it feels like a new skin she’s wearing. A few weeks back she sent for Lilian, and then after a long while, Lilian came back in a very different mood. I and Bella saw it. It was obvious she had taken in so much and was enough to cause the gloomy face she had. We tried to know if anything was wrong but she insisted she was okay but apparently she was being reticent. And ever since then, it was like Mrs Parker got easily angry at anything she did. She constantly yelled at Mrs Lilian for any mistake she made. It was clearly becoming unbearable for Lilian. It was clear that Mrs Parker was almost like someone else towards her. You can ask Bella, she’ll testify to what I’ve just said”. Very well, Mr Richard. Detective Conan said with a satisfying tone. “So moving on do you recall anything off or strange or heard anything suspicious last night”. Mr Richard paused, looking at detective Conan and at officer Steve who was still standing erect. “Detective, I must say, last night went well even for Lilian. I retired for the night leaving her in the kitchen doing the dishes. She didn’t even allow Bella to assist her with it but rather sent her off to bed also”......Mr Richard then paused abruptly obviously holding something back and now willing to tell. “come on Mr Richard, you don’t have to hold back. You can trust me okay? So go on".....The butler then sighed heavily and continued. “On my way to my room which was on the extreme end of the hallway leading to the second entrance for the kitchen, there is a second staircase there, not as big as the one in the central hallway from downstairs. It went from down to upstairs connecting to the hallway where the major rooms and also the guest rooms and extra bedroom for the guests. Although the staircase was from the rooms, that’s why it's been seldom used because of the distance, but rather, the main staircase is mostly used. And so perhaps you might say it’s unreasonable for those staying upstairs to prefer it to the main staircase, except if something weird is going on" the butler stated. What exactly are you driving at?” detective Conan inquired almost impatiently. The butler has always had a knack for speaking in details and full description as if giving lessons to students. He then continued “ I saw something shocking," he said. “Ever since I witnessed it, I just wished I hadn’t walked down that hallway last night”. He said, sounding troubled. “What I saw at the room opposite the edge of that second staircase sent multiple shocks down my whole body",....... he paused before he continued, “after leaving Bella and Lilian in the kitchen, I still went around the house to double-check and know if things were in perfect order. It was past 12:00 am at that time, the Parker’s had all retired for the night. I strolled around the dining room, through the hallway, then outside the house to quickly dispose of the empty bottles in the large trash bin which was at a corner outside the building. On the opposite end of the compound, I thought I heard rustling sounds, but I wasn’t sure if it was anything serious so I let it slide. I went back into the house and started putting off the lights after which I headed to the hallway that led to my room. While I was about opening the door, this time I was sure I heard a noise coming from the end of the hallway that led to the other staircase. I had to check it out to clear my doubt cause it was already getting creepy for me. So I walked slowly over to the end, I looked around and beneath the staircase to inspect but found nothing. The light at that end was dim, so was the light across the hallway where the staircase led to. Opposite the end of the staircase was a room, it was actually a small-sized bedroom but was hardly used because of its distance. While I was relieved of finding nothing related to the noises, all of a sudden, the door opened and I quickly crouched beside the sides of the staircase. Then I saw Mrs Jennifer coming out from the room slowly in her nightclothes. She wore a suspicious look on her face, looking at both ends of the hallway slowly before wandering off. What could she be doing there and why now? I thought to myself. While I was a bit confounded as to what I had just seen, Mr Allen came out from the same door, his bare chest was exposed as his shirt was flung open and the belt holding his pants was loosed as he was still wearing the same outfit he wore for the party last night, unlike Mrs Jennifer who was in her night wears. He then closed the door behind him quietly and strolled off. I watched in shock at what was revealed before my very eyes. It’s hard to believe it, but it's obvious Mr Allen and his brother's wife, Mrs Jennifer, are both having an affair.

CHAPTER 9
CHAPTER 11 “Hello, and who might you be young man?”...... Alfred, the security man at the gate asked “I'm the delivery man sir, um... was asked to..... get this to Mrs Parker. It’s actually a gift for her birthday” Danny said softly faking a smile. “Hmm....Mrs Parker’s birthday is far passed you know, besides I got no notice for this... Perhaps you got the wrong name and address. I guess you’ll have go back where you're coming from and clarify your delivery details young man" Alfred announced. “No wait sir, I'm sure it's here. It was meant to be a surprise gift from one her friends who couldn’t make it to her birthday. It was to be delivered to Mr Williams Parker’s wife, Mrs Jennifer. Isn’t that right sir?” Dan said almost sounding desperate. Alfred wasn’t sure whether to believe him or not, he doesn’t seem much of a delivery man to him. He took a second look at Danny, and observed his appearance from head to toe. He wore a faded black jeans, dusty black shoes, black gloves, a black polo and also a black face cap that bore some kind of logo as if owned by a company or so. Alfred looked at the supposed gift in his hand, a box wrapped with brown paper, its wasn’t too big but had an average cube size having a dimension of about nine inches all round. Alfred wasn’t sure, his gut felt different for this particular soul, but there was nothing he could use to hold against him and besides, Mrs Jennifer would probably need a gift now that the atmosphere in the Parker’s mansion was cold. Dan on the other hand was trying to hold his uneasy gut together... “just let me through man' what’s the big deal, come on!” He thought to himself. “What company do you work for?” Alfred asked inquisitively. Dan, sensing a blown cover tried to act normal and think up a name for a company in the next millisecond. “Pardon?” Dan asked smartly trying to buy himself more time while he arranged something well fabricated to dish to the security man. “I said, what company do you work for?” Alfred repeated his question sounding impatient. “Oh, I work for Ultra holdings Limited, and as a dispatch rider” Dan answered swiftly. “Haven’t heard of that one before" Alfred said. “Oh really, well I guess you have now sir" Dan said smiling. “Alright then, you may go. Head straight till you see the entrance door and follow the flagstones to guide you” ..... “Alright sir thank you" Dan said as he headed straight. “That was so close” He whispered to himself. Walking through the vast compound he was astonished to see the beauty of life in the aesthetic nature of the Parker’s compound. It’s size, large flower pots, trees and shrubs, the pool on the far left side of the compound. It was like nothing he had ever seen before. “Look at all these, kept away from me for so long. I'll make sure I re-live the past twenty years of my life once more" he thought to himself and smiled mischievously. He got to the entrance door, pressed the door bell and waited for a response, while looking back to be sure no one was outside the compound. The security man he had just encountered was no where in sight as the entrance door was invisible from the corner of the post where the security man was. He waited a while longer but got no response, he then pressed the door bell repeatedly in frustration “Answer the goddamn door” he whispered. After a short while, he heard the door handles moving from inside. The double doors then flung open, Mr Richard looked at him oddly and said “Sorry, who are you?”...... “I'm the delivery man sir....” Dan barely finished his statement when Mr Richard cut him short “sorry, what delivery man.....I think you have the wrong address sir" Mr Richard said sharply almost closing the door. Dan then rushed forward, forcefully stopping him from closing the door, using his right shoulder he pushed Mr Richard inside and forced his way in while still holding the box. Mr Richard fell on the floor inside, startled he said “Who are you and what do you want?”. Dan shut the double door behind him silently, he opened the brown box he had been holding and brought out a revolver that was kept with other stuffs to give the box its weight, he then threw the box and the stuffs in it towards a corner and pointed the revolver at Mr Richard. Now Mr Richard’s eyes bulged in shock as he saw the revolver pointing at him. “No no no....” he stammered, “Please don’t do this" he managed to say out of shock. “Get up" Dan said audibly. Mr Richard then stood up, trembling and frightened, he was already sweating profusely. His heartbeat rate had doubled, all of a sudden it was as if his legs could no longer carry him, they were shaking and quaking. “Raise your hands and turn around" Dan instructed. Like an obedient sheep, Mr Richard did as he was told. “Where are the others?” Dan asked passively. “They are in the living room, Please don’t shoot me sir, I'm just a butler" Mr Richard cried. “Shut you mouth. Do as I say and you won’t get hurt. Now move, to the living room". The Parker’s were once again in the living room. All gathered together as if awaiting judgement. Detective Conan had made the call, imploring that they avail themselves before he arrives. Everyone in the room was calm, the atmosphere was without animation. The look on everyone’s face was almost identical, that of which was of anxiety but except for one person, Mr Williams Parker. The detective had called him the night before and had tipped him on what the result of the DNA cross matching test produced. What the detective told him shocked him to the bone marrow as the nature of the information was somehow impossible but obviously, the impossibility prevailed. He pondered on what line of action could possibly be taken but none seemed befitting. He was still pondering and thinking hard about what the detective told him earlier when all of a sudden, everyone in the Living room including himself were startled to see a trembling Mr Richard and a fearful looking Bella, with their hands up in the air, marching into the living where they were. Mr Richard and Bella flooded into the living room with speed and assuming their standing spot at a corner in the living room. At this point, Dan removed his face cap and raised his gun higher, turning his hand about one hundred and eighty degrees, so as to point his gun in all direction. The Parker’s all stood up slowly, simultaneously raising their hands up slowly in submission. Mr Parker, out of courage but in shock and with his hand still in the air said “What do you want young man?”.... “ Dan then turned to look at who just spoke. On seeing Mr Parker’s face, as if by reflex he sighed deeply and audibly, using his left hand to cover his mouth in shock. “You ...you" Dan said out of breath, his eyes were already shimmering with tears. Mr Parker was confused at what was happening and wondered why he was about crying “Is there a problem” Mr Parker asked still raising his hand. “Danny?” Veronica cried out from where she was. Dan then turned and looked at the direction be heard his name, still with a wet eyes “Aunty Veronica!” Dan said out loudly. It was then it dawned on Mr Parker. “Dan?” Mr Parker said emotionally. “Oh my God, Dan!......where have you been boy, we thought you were....” Dan cut in saying “Dead?, you weren’t there when we needed you most, you abandoned us, you left us dad” Dan said emotionally with tears in his eyes but still pointing the gun at Mr Parker. Everyone in the room was shocked with what an obvious stranger who was pointing a gun at them called Mr Parker. “Dad?” Jennifer tried to cut in, turning to Williams, she said sharply “Did he just call you dad" .....Dan swiftly turned and pointed the revolver gun at Jennifer “you be quiet there okay!” Jennifer immediately became mute and raised her hands higher with a more frightened expression on her face. On the other hand, what Dan had just said to Mr Parker was the exact same words Miss Rose Anderson has always tormented him with in his dreams. Mr Parker now had a terrified look on his face, looking straight at Dan who was now facing him with the revolver, pointed straight to his chest. “Danny, please calm down and hear me out...... We tried looking for you, I swear we did. After the fire incident, Veronica went over as soon as she could, but the house was no where to be found and so was you. We tried several other means and options but none fetched back any good report. And so we assume you were gone with your mother in the flames” Mr Parker said almost crying...... “Danny honey, you know we would never ever leave you all by yourself if we had known you were still out there, I wouldn’t have let that happen.....Please put down the gun and we can talk. You are here now, everything’s going to be fine henceforth. We promise" Veronica added, in her soft and calming voice. Everyone in the room was confused as to what was going on. Bella and the butler now seemed relieved a little but were still surprised at the revelation that was unfolding before their very eyes. The Parker’s as well, were all in shock. Mr Williams has an illegitimate son?. The atmosphere in the living room has changed now, from a silent and solemn one, to one mixed with shock, fear and intense emotion. “Do you know what I’ve been through father, the hell and shithole I've been wallowing in for the past twenty years. Mom died in the fire leaving me all alone, but I thought you would show up soon but you never came. Luckily for me I was spotted on the streets by a striving nurse who took me in and tried her best to shape me into a better person. But it didn’t work, I was too broken to be fixed, I was too traumatised to think well and that’s how my fucked up life began. From been a traumatised kid, to a dropout , then a drunkard, to a broke ass, and down to a burglar. Do you have any idea, what it was like for me? You merried and jollied here in your castle while I ate trash" he yelled...... “Son, I swear I'm sorry about all of that, I know it has been hard. But it’s happened and I would’ve prevented it if I knew about your whereabouts. But look at all of this, the big life and everything” Mr Parker said using his hand to make a gesture “No more of what you've faced son, I promise you a better life and I want you to know that I love you and I'm sure your mom could’ve wanted you to know this cause she knows it’s true. Son, Put down the gun. Please"..... Dan was obviously moved by his father’s assuring words, but he was reluctant to put the gun away as if an invisible force prevented him from lowering his hand that was pointing the gun at his father. After much hesitation he slowly lowered his hands, his wet eyes now gave out more tears that ran down his cheek. He never thought he could be this emotional for once in his hate filled life. He felt his heavy heart becoming light, his mind was at ease, as if he was breathing in a new kind of oxygen. He put the gun in his pants, and like a volcano that had just erupted magma and now in its cooling process, Dan was calming down to a tolerable temperature. Veronica rushed from where she was and embraced him, same with Williams. “Can someone please explain to me what the hell is going on here... Williams?.... can you tell me who the hell this is” Jennifer retorted, obviously impatient. The others in the room brought down their previously suspended arms , and were greatly relieved that the situation has been brought under control and that no one was hurt or ever going to get hurt. Mr Richard gave out a sigh of relief as he bent down, resting his hands on his knees. He was obviously the most scared person. The atmosphere in the living room was calm. But for a moment, everyone had forgotten why they were initially gathered there.
