This book is dedicated to my husband Danny and my four wonderful children: Daisy, Alfie, Frankie and Betty, for not only being a constant source of inspiration, but for also putting up with all our many house moves. I knew one day there would be a reason for it all!

Thanks also to my mum and dad for being so supportive; to Elaine, Adam, Cheryl and their gorgeous families; to Linda, Chris, Nic, Cazza, Ed, Gita, Rhys, Patsy, Lisa, Victoria, Georgia, Heidi, Alicia, Caroline, Frances, Catherine, Cathy, Flavia, Marguerite, Anita, Nicola, Katie and all my lovely Somerset friends – thanks for bringing joy into my life. And thanks to Zoe, for being the bestest friend anyone could ever wish for. And to Abbey, for sharing my vision and never letting me give up, for all your wonderful illustrations, words and ideas. Without you, this book wouldn't have been possible.

Thanks to my editor, Elen Jones, and to Lizzy Gray and Georgina Atsiaris; to Martin Topping and Lucy Sykes-Thompson for the beautiful design; and all at HarperCollins for believing in this book as much as me. To Helena Caldon and Emma Callery who helped write and carefully edit the book; to Debi Treloar and Marianne Cotterill for the beautiful photography; to Diana Moar, Julie Jacobs and Megumi Matsuno who styled my hair and make-up. Thanks to Carol Hayes and Karin Silverstein at Carol Hayes Management; Neil Blair, Zoe King, Daniel Teweles and everyone at The Blair Partnership; and Melvyn du Bell for sorting out my finances.

Thanks also to Yvonne Williams for your guidance; to Jo Weinberg, for the delicious food; Susie Bell for the insanely real flowers; to Faye Chadburn for the creations on our gypsy wagon; it’s perfection! To Mim for helping me find the words; to Jaywood in Frome, thank you for helping us create wonderful spaces in all our houses; to Jo at the Walled Garden at Mells; Bramble and Wild and The Blossom Tree for supplying all the lovely plants and flowers; to Lisa for your invaluable help around the house. Thanks also to Howie & Belle and Scarlet & Violet for letting us shoot in their lovely shops; to Foxy Brown’s Cakes and Bakes and the Primrose Bakery for the delicious treats; to Oh Sew Helena, What Delilah Did and Jessica Lennox for their crafty advice; to Brigette and Robin from Odd Limited for lending all the tribal rugs and cushions; to Rachel Ashwell for lending her cushions, napkins and rugs; to Annie Sloan for the paint; GF Smith for the paper; James Hare for the lace and silk; and House of Hackney and Mel at Wallpaper Direct for all the fantastic wallpaper. Thanks also to Vicky Trainor, Spotted Sparrow, Frou Frou and Thomas, Lauren Moriarty, Nostalgia at the Stone House, Susannah Decorative Antiques and Textiles, Sharp and Noble, Darby & Joan, Betty Bee Vintage, British Cream Tea and Supernice.
