ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

This book would not be possible without the Spoonflower community. Thank you to all the community members who responded to our queries, contributed projects and ideas, and who continue to inspire so much creativity and fantastic design.

A big thanks to one of Spoonflower’s first team members, Darci Moyers, for her enthusiasm in getting this project off the ground, and to Allie Tate for picking up the thread after Darci moved on. Many people were instrumental early on in the process, especially Joel and Ashley Selby of This Paper Ship—and, of course, Joy Tutela, who so wonderfully represented the book. Thanks to Melanie Falick for taking on this project and working hard to get it finished, to Valerie Shrader for editing the manuscript with a keen eye, and to Sarah Gifford, the designer. Thanks, too, to Dervla Kelly, who brought the original project to STC Craft.

As the book went through the editing process, some terrific projects, concepts, and instructions did not make it into the final draft, and we would like to acknowledge a few specific designers whose work was omitted for their help in developing the material that became The Spoonflower Handbook: Mathew & Matthea den Boer, Sharon Turner, Kelly Harmon, Jennifer Wambach, Samarra Khaja, Gina Sekelsky, Nancy Kers, Candy Joyce, Allison Kreft, Elizabeth Harrington, Donna Kallner, Cean Irminger, Jennifer Finan, and Linda Robertus.

Becka would like to personally thank Andy Rahn for love, wine, and technical support; Melisa Wahlstrom for making sure she could always be where she needed to be; and to her parents, who are both artists and educators, for showing her the footsteps to follow. She would also like to give a special thanks to all of the students from her “Spoonflower classes” at Textile Center in Minneapolis for their questions, ideas, and enthusiasm. And, finally, thanks to Judi Ketteler, who makes her sound smarter, funnier, and more articulate and has been a partner and friend throughout.

Judi would like to personally thank her mom, Mary Ketteler, for being the original sewer in her life, and her dad, Bert Ketteler, who passed away during the writing of this book, but who leaves an enormous creative legacy in her heart. Thanks to her husband, Allen Raines, for making ample amounts of coffee daily and chicken tikka masala when it was most needed. Finally, she would like to thank Becka Rahn, who is undoubtedly the best book co-author in the history of book co-authors and saved her bacon more than one time.

In addition to thanking Becka and Judi and all of the folks listed in the earlier acknowledgments, Stephen is indebted to the Spoonflower team, which consists of many dedicated, creative, and hardworking individuals who work like maniacs to get through the mountains of fabric, wallpaper, and gift wrap they print and ship every day, and who care deeply about the people to whom all those beautiful designs are being sent. He is also grateful to have two business partners, Gart Davis and Allison Polish, who supported this book project from start to finish.
