Introduction to Part I
Welcome to Part I of this guided workbook! Use the various elements for a wide range of ages, according to your professional discretion. Beginning with Chapter One, there are interactive sheets you can use with youth to explore sexual orientation identity development; coming out & safety planning.
In Chapter Two, the focus shifts exclusively to the needs and issues germane to lesbian youth. Sex, dating, sleepovers, parents, and even substance abuse are addressed in Chapter Two.
Moving along to gay youth, Chapter Three explores gender roles and expectations as they intersect with sexuality in males; sexual health, and body image.
Commonly erased and unseen our bisexual youth are calling for inclusion and Chapter Four facilities just that!
Chapters Five and Six focus on gender identity development, particularly for transgender and intersex youth. Find activities to use with youth to help them explore their identity and relationship to self and others. There are also templates and form letters to assist in advocating for bathroom/locker room use, as well as for affirming readiness to transition.
Part I concludes with Chapter Seven on questioning youth who have the distinct right and invitation to be fluid and explore gender and/or sexuality without the pressure to label
